Self Promotion Campaign

Design a self promotion campaign that carries your concept through to your entire promotional campaign which confirms for your prospective employer that he/she needs you on their team. The aim of this campaign is to promote/market yourself to prospective employers. Your visual identity and campaign must leave your prospective employer with a lasting impression of your conceptual thinking and visual problem solving skills.

The Big 5 Doughnut Pack

This brief required us to design a pack to promote and sell five fresh ring doughnuts across mainstream retail outlets in South Africa (Supermarkets, Hypermarkets, convenient stores, etc). The design of your pack should enhance the appetite appeal pack and attract attention, appealing to all five senses, and ultimately enticing consumers to purchase the doughnuts. The doughnuts will be freshly baked, decorated and packed in the retail bakery and then merchandised in various convenience areas of the store. Your pack design should allow for in store packing, branding and pricing.
Targeted at kids between the ages of 5 and 12 years, this innovative rectangular cube, easy to fold pack design is intended to package Woolworths doughnuts that are 10cm in circumference, 4cm in radius and 3cm in height. Because we are proudly African, I thought to name my packaging The Big 5. The eye-catching animal faces, turn into kiddies' masks after use :-)

Quirky, Vintage, Fashion.

This was an experimental shoot that I did with a journalist turned model, Nongcebo Khumalo. A sort of, find-your-feet type of photoshoot for me - that turned out to be amazing! Shot on the grounds of Durban University of Technology, City Campus. Themed: Quirky, Vintage, Fashion. Which can also be read as a statement if you remove the commas. 'Cause that's just how we do, making statements wherever we go :-)

Spring Has Sprung!

Doing what i love most...fashion photography. My shoots are always centered around a particular theme. And this was: Spring Has Sprung! This location is at the Durban University of Technology, City Campus. My first proper shoot, such fun times. Huge thanks to the model, my lovely honey, Britney Aboud. Isn't she amazing :-)

South African Cook Book

THE BRIEF: Design the beginnings of a South African cook book. It must include a cover, an index page, a chapter introduction and two recipes. (I decided to do three recipes :-))
My cook book is entitled Street Cuisine: Dirty Durban, Delicious Dish! A cook book with an assortment of mouth-watering recipes cooked on the streets of Durban. Targeted at taxi drivers, cooked by our street mamas.
This is an excerpt from the Chapter Introduction; "Cooked with care, with a helping of streetwise, a spoonful of hustle, the street mamas have found a niche in the market, selling delicious dishes in polystyrene containers they have dubbed 'ama-laptop'. This is a business that will never run dry."

Harper's Bazaar

A History of Graphic Design assignment based on the popular international fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar. I took all the photos for the photoshoot, except for my one, Nqobile Magudulela took mine while I posed away :-) I also designed the layout for each picture. I particularly enjoyed this, from the make-up to the dressing up to the directing...with Beyonce playing in the background, it was fun times!!!

Editorial Layout

This brief required us to pick one of four pieces of writing and design an editorial layout for a design magazine of our own choice. I decided to design for One Small Seed because of its flexibility when it comes to the contents of the mag. My photographic illustration is based on the article I chose entitled "MEN MUST WACK",  a humorous piece of writing by Herman Lategan about Anton Lembede Street, formerly known as Smith Street, in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Corporate Identity

THE BRIEF: The task was to design a new logo for the Point Watersports Club (PWC) and the overall brand identity across it’s various platforms. The brand identity should be coherent and should represent the several clubs that will form the new “superclub”.

Photography

This brief required us to turn a lyric into a photo. I chose a song by India Arie called Pearls. I extracted the line "it hurts like brand new shoes" and turned it into a series of portraits. Different people with tears trickling down their faces, appearing the same but crying for different reasons. Because that's what pain does, it produces tears in all of us but it hurts differently.

The Jounalist...

So my sister's actually a journalist, don't be fooled by the body- good genes i tell ya *wink* I thought one day to go out and take pics of her in our backyard. I love these fashion inspired shoots, and what better way to perfect my skills than to take pics of someone who looks like a model at no cost?!
She is a darling to work with, i swear :-)

Design Indaba DPS

This is a double spread I designed in second year.  The brief was to market ourselves as young and upcoming designers for the Design Indaba Magazine. I had alotta fun writing about how I "stand out" as a designer.
This was an anti-design assignment where we had to make a one-minute-movie. The name of the movie is Streetclass. And the whole idea is to change the mind-set of society and the way they have programmed us to think. We had to market and brand the film, and above is the poster I designed promoting it.
This was one of the posters for the viral campaign which was part of the brief.

I decided to design a website to further promote the movie.
